What is art therapy?
Art therapy is designed to support optimal mental health and promote holistic wellness, and is based on the idea that creative expression can encourage healing and mental well-being.

The goal of art therapy is to utilize the creative process to help people explore self-expression and, in doing so, find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills.

Art therapy is a tool designed to support your mental health, by using art materials and the creative process to explore emotions, reduce anxiety, increase self-esteem, and resolve psychological conflicts. Art therapy classes are designed to help you understand yourself better and improve relationships with yourself and those around you.

At StudioK, our classes are designed to support you during significant times in your life. They are developed with common themes in mind and are an ideal support to incorporate during transitional periods, for example, during the journey of motherhood or when you are looking to rediscover who you really are.

Do I need to be ‘good at art’?

Nope, not at all! Our art therapy experiences are not about being a highly skilled artist; they are about reconnecting with who you are, and finding a sense of peace, balance and wellbeing.

Will the art therapist “interpret” my artwork?

At StudioK, we promise no one is judging your artwork! Our focus is on helping you to find the personal meaning in your own creative work. You are the expert on your own work and the meaning behind it, and our role is to support you in exploring the emotions and experiences that arise throughout the journey.

What kind of art do you do in classes?

Our art therapy sessions are intuitively guided to support and meet you where you’re at, and gently taking you on a journey towards self-understanding, compassion and calm.

I’m not very flexible, is yoga the right choice for me?

The less flexible you feel at the moment, the more you need yoga!

A lack of flexibility can have detrimental effects on your overall and long term health, leading to issues such as such as neck and should pain, lower back, hip and knee problems.
Yoga will help you get those tired and stiff muscles and joints moving again, relieving the frustrating and exhausting feeling of tight, overworked muscles.
Beginning yoga is easier than you think, and the health benefits will prove for themselves just how valuable it is to invest in yourself in this way.

Our classes are based on Japanese Remedial Yoga.

I have never tried Japanese Yoga, how is it different from other forms of yoga?

How often should I attend a yoga class?

We’ll warn you now, yoga can get addictive!
Once you start enjoying the holistic benefits for your mind and body, we won’t be able to keep you away!
To get you started, we’d suggest introducing 1-2 yoga sessions into your weekly routine.
After just a few classes, the improvement in your sleep, energy and overall wellbeing will become very clear.

When is the best time of day to do yoga?
The experience of yoga practiced in the morning, is different from yoga undertaken later in the day, or at night.
At StudioK, our yoga classes are adapted to suit the time of day they are practised.
By adjusting the type of movements we offer during your sessions, based on the time of day you attend class, we ensure you have the most holistic and beneficial experience possible.

Morning classes are a more aerobic experience. You’ll be moving at a faster past, focusing on building strength and stamina. This yoga is great for improving metabolism and boosting sports performance.
Night yoga is like a warm cup of chamomile tea, infused with lavender. Here, you’ll move at a slower and more intentional pace. You’ll be focusing on stretch, flexibility and breath work. Evening yoga is designed to help you calm, sooth and focus the mind and body. Your energy will be focused on relaxing and preparation for sleep.
